Well, where to begin? I'm from the north of England, not too far from Manchester, and yet for some reason I support Newcastle United Football Club. I have supported them all of my life, without ever really questioning why that is, although I am of course loyal to my local club, who have been promoted this year!!! I'm at University, studying physics. I enjoy listening to lots of rock and metal music, as well as reading and going for long walks in the countryside. I obviously have a passion for star gazing and astronomy, with a large focus on the more theoretical side of the subject.
A comedian on the TV show "QI" said that it is impossible to explain large scale physics, such as quantum mechanics and general relativity to none-specialised members of the public, and I find that this notion is rather absurd, so I will be attempting to prove him wrong on this blog, by intermittsntly trying to explain a peice of physics, hopefully with a reasonable level of proficiency, with topics ranging from the Northern Lights to the Big Bang itself.
